LEST WE FORGET

Mission Hero was recently launched to inform today's youth  of the bravery and sacrifice of the war heroes of WW2  using imagery with a nod to 70's and early 80's  war comics such as Commando, Victor and Warlord.
Producing these drawings  took me back to my childhood, as many a day drifted by reading such comics.
And yes, I played with action man toys.

SUSANNA HOFFS NAKED!!!

One of the segments for the soon to broadcast BBC programme, I'M IN A GIRL BAND, required I draw Susanna Hoffs of 80's band, The Bangles, naked. I won't be posting it here though, you'll have to watch the show . I'll post updates of broadcasts on this blog, so stay tuned.
In the meantime here is a head shot detail of a more complete drawing that will appear in the  show.
These drawings are being animated by Sumners who also commissioned me to produce the drawings for I'M IN A ROCK 'N' ROLL BAND, for which they won an RTS award (Royal Television Society).

I have decided to sell most of the drawing produced for I'M IN A ROCK 'N' ROLL BAND and I will post details of when and how they can be purchased in a later blog.

DETAIL OF SKETCH FOR NEW BOOK

Here's a detail of a sketch for a book I have recently completed that will hit the shelves in March 2012.
It's the centaur from The Golden Voyage Of Sindbad, one of my fave films as a kid.
I loved Ray Harryhausen's creations. The guy was a big inspiration and maybe I wouldn't be drawing  today if it weren't for his and other artist's(such as Jack Kirby and Dick Sprang) work.
Here's the cover

ARTHUR CHRISTMAS

As far as work is concerned, Christmas started in July this year with a set of storyboards for Uber . Aardman were approaching ad agencies and creative studios  with tie-in opportunities to their 2011 Christmas offering , Arthur Christmas, and Greg Clarke (Uber's uber creative director)  convinced DFS it would be the perfect partner for their Christmas campaign.
Shown below are an edited version of the storyboards  followed by a youtube clip of the ad.

For any art students viewing this blog wanting to see the whole progression, here are some rough thumbnail breakdowns.

It kind of took me back to when I was working on Aardman's Chop Socky Chooks
